This course is open to everyone – from complete beginners to experienced drummers who want to sharpen their sense of rhythm and groove on the djembe.
Together, we explore a wide range of styles – from traditional African rhythms to modern grooves inspired by rock and hip-hop. You’ll learn how to play and understand different rhythmic patterns, build strong timing, and develop your improvisation skills in a natural and playful way.
We also work with a variety of percussion instruments such as shakers, tambourines, maracas, claves, and more. These help improve coordination, body awareness, and connection between hands and movement.
Of course, we won’t miss out on boomwhackers, African bass drums (dunduns), and other rhythm instruments that add depth and power to the collective sound.
A big focus is placed on keeping the groove together, listening to others, and learning how to play as one rhythmic organism.
